Bird
Birds are tamable passive mobs that spawn in various biomes dependent on their variant.
Spawning
Birds spawn in groups of 1-4 on top of blocks defined in

Spawn biomes can be edited with a data pack via adding or removing biomes from files liketags/worldgen/has_cardinal.json ortags/worldgen/has_robin.json in Naturalist’s data files.
- Cardinals spawn in forests, savannas, swamps, and deserts.
- Canaries spawn in hills and mountains.
- Robins spawn in forests, mountains and plains.
- Bluejays spawn in taigas, hills, ice spikes, and other snowy biomes.
- Sparrows spawn in plains and cherry groves.
- Finches spawn in forests and savannas.
Drops
Birds drop 1-2 feathers upon death. The amount is increased by one per level of Looting, for a range of 1-5 with Looting III.
Item drops can be edited with a data pack via editing files likeloot_tables/entities/canary.json orloot_tables/entities/robin.json in Naturalist’s data files.
1-3 experience orbs are dropped when birds killed by a player or tamed wolf.
Behavior
Birds randomly fly around, following each other and occasionally landing.
During the day, birds will randomly play ambient sounds related to their variant, such as cardinal calls, bluejay calls, etc. — they will not play these sounds during the night. When making sounds this way, they will emit randomly colored note block particles.
Birds can be tempted and tamed using all Vanilla seeds, including wheat seeds, beetroot seeds, melon seeds, and pumpkin seeds. Upon being tamed, they will follow their owner and can be commanded to sit or follow.
