Elephant

Spawning

Elephants spawn in groups of 2-3 above grass blocks at a light level of 9 or more in savanna biomes. One elephant has a chance to be a baby, or a calf as they are called.

Spawn biomes can be edited with a data pack via adding or removing biomes from tags/worldgen/has_elephant.json in Naturalist’s data files.

Drops

An adult elephant drops upon death:

Item drops can be edited with a data pack via editing loot_tables/entities/elephant.json in Naturalist’s data files.

Behavior

Elephants roam the savannas aimlessly, similar to other mobs, but when they come into the vicinity of a bee they will run away quickly.

Elephant calves will follow their parents with a maximum distance of 12 blocks, quickly following if they stray too far away. Elephants do not attack players who come near their calves, but will attack players if they attack their calves.

Elephants can not be bred and can only be found with calves upon natural spawning.
