Snail
Spawning
Snails spawn in groups of 1-3 above grass blocks at a light level of 9 or more in various biomes, including forest, savannas, plains, swamps and mushroom fields among many more.
Spawn biomes can be edited with a data pack via adding or removing biomes fromtags/worldgen/has_snail.json in Naturalist’s data files.
Drops
Snails drop upon death:
- 0-1 snail shell. The maximum amount is not affected by Looting.

Behavior
Snails randomly crawl around, making squishy noises as they move. If a player approaches, they will stop moving and hide in their shells.
Snails can be bucketed, and will become persistent when released, not despawning. They can also be renamed in an anvil using this item, without the need for name tags, similar to axolotls.
Snails can be dyed, and will change their texture when this is done. They will also not despawn.
Snails can be bred with Beetroot and will lay an egg block that works similarly to Frogspawn but is placed on solid blocks.
