Boar

Boars are passive mobs found commonly in savanna biomes and forests. Boars are a source of porkchops, and unlike their pig counterparts, they can not be equipped with saddles.

Spawning

Boars spawn in groups of 4 above grass blocks at a light level of 9 or more in savanna biomes and forests.

Drops

An adult boar drops upon death:

  • 1-3 raw porkchop or cooked porkchop if killed while on fire. The maximum amount is increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 1-6 with Looting III.
  • 0-1 leather, with a maximum amount increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 4 with Looting III.
  • 1-3 experience orbs if killed by a player or tamed wolf.

  • 1-7 orbs upon breeding.

Behavior

Boars will try to avoid players when possible.

When a boar is struck by lightning, it transforms into a zoglin.

Hostility

Boars can exist in both passive and hostile states. If attacked, they will aggro on their attacker and will not stop until either the attacker dies or they reach half health, in which they will run away.

Breeding

Boars follow players within six blocks using carrots, potatoes, or beetroots, and can be bred using the same items. After breeding, the parents have a cooldown of 5 minutes before they can breed again. Piglets mature in 20 minutes and stay near their parents. Feeding them reduces the remaining time to maturity by 10%.
